The Texas State Railroad is preparing for its 18th annual Salute to the Armed Forces event on May 28-29, 2016. The event takes place on the Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, at the Palestine Depot.
The primary purpose of the event is to provide a showcase and public education opportunity to all branches and all eras of military and first responder service to our country. This is a family-friendly event.
Participation is open to re-enactment groups, living history exhibits, those with static displays, booths by non-profit organizations and vendor booths. The only criteria to participate is that each entity be military or first-responder oriented.
Participation is free with the exception of a $50 fee charged to for-profit vendors. Space is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Most spaces are 16×15 but larger spaces are available upon request. Participants also have a choice of being located on the main grounds around the depot or in the main parking lot.
