Rusk County Poetry Society Welcomes Dr. Renk to Celebration of Poetry
Dr. Charlotte Renk of Athens, poet and instructor of English literature and humanities, will be the guest speaker at the Rusk County Poetry Society (RCPS) Celebration of Poetry on Saturday, October 14, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. The celebration will be held in the multi-purpose building of South Main Church of Christ, 402 South Main Street in Henderson. The Rose Garden Poetry Society (RGPS) of Whitehouse is the co-sponsor.
Dr. Renk has been widely published in journals and is the author of These Holy Hungers and Solidago, An Altar to Weeds. Her 2014 chapbook, The Tenderest Petal Hears, was co-winner of the Blue Horse Press Chapbook Contest. Dr. Renk will discuss “The Long Black Branches” in writing poetry.
Poet Mary Tindall of Whitehouse will present a writing lesson and prompt, “Sandford on Sound.” The $ 15.00 charge payable at the door includes a potluck luncheon, a raffle benefitting the organization’s annual high school poetry scholarship and open mic poetry readings.
