Learn Grant Writing with Circle of Ten
Founder of Circle of Ten, Inc. Kathy Holdway, addressed the Council of Van Zandt Communities at the Vision 2019 January meeting yesterday in the Van Zandt Country Club, concerning her business practice of teaching grant writing. The company’s mission is: To empower leaders and foster healthy collaborations to improve quality of life, all through their vision to: serve as a catalyst and neutral intermediary agency building the capacity of leaders, agencies and communities, multiplying services and increasing funding in rural areas.
In short, Holdway seeks to help those who work to help themselves financially in private business, non-profit goups, and local communities through teaching participants in the Circle of Ten program the art of grant writing. Circle of 10, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit agency that has existed since 2002 because of Holdway’s vision to share with others what she learned through trial and error experience.
She has volunteered and written grants for United Way and other local non-profits. She shared just a couple of pointers before encouraging listeners to sign up for one of the Circle of Ten seminars: 1) Tell funders what you do know, and what you’re doing right. Focus on your strengths. 2) If a building is donated to a non-profit group, the board should make certain the county and school taxes have been waived prior to purchase or acquisition.
Seminars offered include: Part I: Process of Collaboration 3-Day Seminar; Part 2: The Next Step 3-Day Seminar (Pre-requisite: Part 1); Grant Writing as a Process; Board Basics: A Well-Rounded Perspective; Funders’ Forum & Networking Gathering.
