Approval was made for outfitting the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s new 2018 Tahoe’s. There were four quotes, and because one of the trustees is also one of the best mechanics in Van Zandt County, this has put the Sheriff’s department under budget by $700. It will cost $30,000 for equipment to outfit all the Tahoe’s.
The next item on the agenda was an Interlocal Agreement between Van Zandt County Pct. 2 Road and Bridge and the City of Canton. Approval was given to pave all of Cherry Creek.
Commissioners also approved changing the speed limit on County Road 2101 and 2508 to 35 MPH. Commissioners are hopeful that in the future, all the county roads in Van Zandt County will be 35 MPH.
They discussed and considered driveway Culverts in Van Zandt County, and are considering doing away with installing driveway Culverts because they spend a lot of time on them. That will leave more time to focus on County Road repairs. Commissioners will be holding a workshop on Monday discussing this further. This item has been tabled for a different time.
Commissioner Brandon Brown has permission to bid on the 2007 Reclaimer/stabilizer for Road and Bridge Pct. 1, and Fiscal Year 2017 Budget Amendments were discussed and approved.
The Commissioners’ Court of Van Zandt County meets Wednesday mornings at 9:00 a.m. Everyone is encouraged to come out and listen in to what is going on in their community.
