Contrast Sharpens Between Pounds and Gooden
While Bunni Pounds recently picked up endorsements from conservatives such as, Vice President Mike Pence, U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, Congressman Jeb Hensarling, former Senator Phil Gramm, and State Senator Bob Hall to name a few, her Republican Primary Runoff opponent, State Representative Lance Gooden garnered support last week, from personal injury lawyer and former Democrat State Senator Ted B. Lyon from Mesquite. The contrast between Pounds and Gooden is sharpening with every passing moment. Both claim to be conservative, but Gooden has had trouble collecting known conservatives’ endorsements.
The letter, dated May 14 from Lyon states:
To All Clients and Friends:
Early voting started Monday May 14th and if you haven’t voted yet here are my recommendations as marked on the Democratic ballot.
I also have a number of clients who vote in the Republican Primary and if you do live in Kaufman, Van Zandt or any of the other East Texas counties I recommend Lance Gooden for Congress. He is a person who has done a good job as State Representative from that area.
The Runoff Election is tomorrow, May 22, and will determine which contested Primary candidates from Democrat and Republican parties, will appear on the November 6 General Election ballot. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
