Truth Behind the Gaza Demonstrations

“We can forgive the Arabs for killing our children, we cannot forgive them for forcing us to kill their children. We will only have peace with the Arabs when they love their children more than they hate us.” ― Golda Meir, 1973
It is apparent that this sad truth is again forcing us to look at the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Hamas government, who for the sake of sound bites and photo-ops, sacrifice their children while blaming Israel. The actual beginning of the demonstrations in Gaza began last year when Palestinian Authority (PA) President, Mahmoud Abbas imposed sanctions on the Gaza Strip, which started a humanitarian crisis. Abbas limited electrical power to the Gaza Strip to three or four hours per day, and the result was that Gaza did not have the power to provide medical care for their most critical patients. Also, Abbas refused to grant permits for patients to enter Israel for medical treatment. Another tragedy took place last year when the PA purchased medical supplies from Israel, and Abbas authorized three truckloads of the supplies to be shipped to Venezuela instead of sending them to Palestinians in Gaza who were in dire need of the supplies.
Times of Israel 6/27/17 Three infants died in Gaza hospitals. Hamas Gaza Health Ministry blamed the PA for the deaths, saying Ramallah (PA capital) has refused to grant permits for babies to be treated in Israel.Gaza Health Ministry and International medical rights groups in Gaza say the PA has significantly decreased aid sent to Gaza as well. An Abbas aide, said that the PA sharply reduced the amount of medicine shipped to Gaza every month.
Abbas set the stage for what we are seeing played out on the Gaza border over the last several weeks. March 03, 2018, Abbas cut salaries for Gaza government workers by 30-50 percent and forced hundreds of workers to retire. Hamas has admitted paying the protesters at the Gaza border, offering payments to citizens who go to the border with Israel and sacrifice themselves to receive financial compensation. Al Arabiya News 5/15/18 Palestinian baby (8 months old), who was scheduled to be treated in an Israeli hospital, was taken to the protests at the border, rather than to the baby’s appointment, and died from tear gas inhalation, said the Gaza Health Ministry.
Palestinian President Abbas created the situation in Gaza, Hamas has exploited it, the Gazans are suffering from it, and Israel is being blamed. Times of Israel 5/6/17 The PA is attempting to create a humanitarian crisis, and Abbas vowed that “things will be painful” for Hamas.
Dalit Halevi 3/21/18 Arutz Sheva Senior PA officials stated Abbas’s punitive measures on Hamas would harm the daily lives of the residents of Gaza, raise the rate of poverty and unemployment. These measures will include, 1. Significant increase in taxes on imports and exports to and from Gaza. 2. Reduction in the salaries of public sector employees (including security personnel), 3. Stop allowances by the PA bureau of social affairs for 80,000 families in Gaza. 4. Freeze financing for treatment of patients and purchases of medical equipment. 5. Reduce the supply of electricity to Gaza (apparently through non-payment to the Israeli Electric Company). 6. Stop payment for water purchases. 7. Close bank accounts of businessmen, companies and institutions. The PA official said that the punitive measures will take effect no later than the beginning of April 2018.
As of June 1, this Humanitarian Crisis was still in place, and there has been no change or relief for the Gazans since the punitive measures have been enacted. The false narratives we see in the news blaming Israel, are directly related to the actions taken by the PA and PA President Mahmoud Abbas. The knee jerk reaction of any unrest, dissatisfaction, or indignation by the “Palestinian” people is to blame Israel. The Western Media’s reaction is to support the claims and accusations of the people, without question or research.
