Thousands Gather at Western Wall for Yom Kippur Prayers
Tens of thousands of Jews came together last night in prayer at the holiest time on the Hebrew calendar, the Eve of Yom Kippur, or ‘Day of Atonement’. Ultra-Orthodox Jews, Orthodox, traditional and even secular Jews all pray together at the Western Wall which is considered the most holy site for the Jewish people today. Though the majority of Jews in Israel are not religious, most Jews in Israel fast on Yom Kippur, and attend Synagogue. Also, it’s important to note that when the Jewish people pray for forgiveness, they are not praying only for themselves, but they are praying in unison, for the entire Jewish Nation. There are more and more Jewish people coming out for prayer and to ascend the Temple Mount than in previous years. It’s an amazing phenomenon to witness.
