Wills Point Tigers Fall Short to Grace Community Cougars
Wills Point Tigers fell short to the Grace Community Cougars on Thursday September 20, 2018. The Cougars scored 42-34 over the Tigers. The Tigers were lucky to play due to a lightning delay and then a rain delay.
Heads up on protocol in case of lightening: In the event that there is lightning as close as 10 miles away, the head coach will call “lightning” to the players on the field. The press box will announce the warning to the crowd in the stands. Thursday night, they announced a lightning warning and encouraged us all to go sit in our cars. For every lightning strike, there is a 30-minute wait. As long as there is no lightning strike during those 30 minutes, the game is on. What if there is a lightning strike within the 30 minutes? Then the time restarts and the teams wait.
When the game finally resumed, both teams fought till the very last second. The Cougars will be heading to Henderson with a 3-1 record and Wills Point will be hoping to better it’s 2-1 record as they head to Krum. We wish both teams luck and safe travels.
